Default Hemi the Hooey

I pulled Hemi from one of the local pounds about a month ago because they were very full and he was not doing so well surrounded by all the big dogs and all the noise. He was found as a stray in a very busy part of the City and we don't know much about him except that he has a microchip that was never registered and we're having a hard time tracking down any information about his former life.

He's a Chihuahua mix about 18 months to 2 years old, weighs 8 1/2 pounds, is up-to-date on all his vaccines, and was just neutered last week. He was a fierce marker of everything outside when we first got him, but has only marked once in the house. Since his neuter, he has been marking slightly less.

Hemi is good with cats but will chase them to play if the cats run and he is very good with other dogs. He thinks he's a Great Dane, LOL! He shows no fear of Tucker, Shorty, or Indy at all and is very respectful of Katy. The one time I introduced him to Mac, Hemi was in the crate and I allowed Mac to sniff the front of the crate. Mac WOOFED at Hemi, Hemi charged the crate door like a lunatic, and Mac promptly shoved his snout under the crate and flipped the crate over. No hooeys were harmed during this experiment.

Hemi needs a quiet home with NO children, and does much better with women than he does with men. He does seem fearful of some men and will snap and cower when he feels threatened. This behaviour has lessened the more we've worked with him. He's also fearful of brooms and any stick-like implements. The vacuum and hairdryer don't bother him at all and he will actually jump into the dishwasher if you leave the door open while you're loading it.

Hemi is very sweet and loves to give tiny kisses. He also loves to walk on his back legs and do "zoomies" right after he poops. He loves his squeaky mini tennis balls and his lion stuffy, and enjoys long walks around the lake.

To adopt Hemi, please PM me or send me an email at jen@pitbulltalk.com

Oh, he's full of it, alright. That's why his eyes are brown.

He's far too nervous right now to be around kids. Plus, he was never taught to NOT use his mouth for everything -- he likes to nibble fingers and hands and the more excited he is, the harder he nibbles. Training will take care of that in the long run, and I'm sure he will grow less nervous with time to settle in. He's only been here for a month and has already gotten better in many ways.
