This is probably a stupid question, but what is good socialization? I keep reading that this breed needs to be socialized and Im not sure what that intitles. I have friends over and we go on walks in the park, them our weekly trips to petsmart. Otherwise we are home. Do I need to do more? Oh I live in near Fayetteville NC and I cant find any places to take deke to disipline training classes. Is there any other place that anyone knows of besides petsmart? Thanks everyone you have been great!

Any training classes are good for socialization. The little cutie needs to be socialized with other animals while he's young as well, not just people. While it's more likely than not that he'll become dog aggressive when he gets older, he should be introduced to other dogs under close supervision while he's still a little guy. Do a google search for basic obedience trainers in your area. If you like, look for someone who offers a basic, intermediate, and advanced course. That way, if you decide to go for more extensive training, you'll already be familiar with the staff. And, of course, keep an eye on the boards for news of events in your area. You may even want to look into weight pulling or tread mill races when he's done growing. Good exercises for the body and mind as well as being good for ongoing socialization =)

There are no stupid questions!! I'm so glad that you are keeping your guy socialized. I think it's so important to just keep them social with everyone, not just dogs but all kinds of situations. Do you have any coffee shops with tables outside that you could just go and let him hang out and see life. The more they are exposed to the more well rounded they stay. Keep in mind that pit bulls do better with positive training as opposed to negative punishment when you are looking for trainers. Good Luck!! and keep it up!
