at that age you can give meat alone, and get premade raw that has ground up bone in it too, this way you dont have to worry about the large bones, and once she gets older, you can then start her with chicken wings and graduate from there..

www.omaspride.com
bravo has a premade diet as well

they are both premade raw, so is natures variety they have a raw section too..

In addition, laboratory analysis reveals an amazing 32 distinct additional fatty acid molecules you’re unlikely to find in highly processed "purified" alternatives.

KELP

Kelp contains vitamins, minerals and provides trace elements all in a naturally balanced way. We have sourced the world’s finest quality kelp ecologically and sustainably harvested from the pure, unpolluted, remote reaches of northern Iceland processed using geothermal heat at a uniform low temperature, rather than high temperature oil or coal dryers, or sun drying. This process permits all the organic and biologically active substances ascribed to seaweed to be preserved intact.

Be sure to let me know if you need a copy of the NOP Organic certificate and I'll send it with the shipment.
PURE KELP
  • Ingredients: 100% Certified Organic Kelp (Ascophyllum nodosum & Laminaria digitata)

If you don't mind I'd like to chime in. I use (and of course recommend) Sea Pet fish oils.

http://www.seapet.com/

All of their oils are are molecularly distilled and are free of toxins/heavy metals. Their lowest grade oil is the Omega-3 fish oil and has 1350mg/tsp of DHA & EPA; which are the main fatty acids that one should be looking for in a fish oil. EPA is most important for joint care and DHA is most important in brain activity. Of course they both improve other things like skin/coat, heart, liver, etc.

Also, for dogs in desperate need of fish oil (dogs with major skin problems or joint /arthritis problems) there is their Sea Pet Gold. Which has 2500mg/tsp if DHA/EPA.

I'm extremely happy with Sea Pet products. I take their human line every morning! I've even gotten the doctor I work for to carry their Sea Vet line, as none of the veterinary products he's seen has EPA/DHA levels this high.

yes i do lynda i was just there 2 weeks ago getting an order.. the prices on the internet include shipping, so the prices at the store are cheaper.

you can order online, and email her and say you are picking up the order. she is open until 2 on saturdays, and 5 pm on mon-friday. i go on saturdays after therapy and usually get there around 1:30.

i get the 5 lb and the 2lb stuff mostly. i normally get beef, chicken, venison, turkey, tripe. i just got the patties, which are pretty cool.. easy to store too..

if you need directions to go there i can give them to you.. its gonna be a haul from your house though, it takes me 40 minutes to get there when i leave newton at 12:15.... so from your house it will probably take an hour and a half depending on traffic...

Thanks so much for the information. I've been soaking up all I can about feeding raw. We've just started with a couple of our dogs and they seem to love it. I think we'll be switching everyone over eventually.

It's just so tough to find GOOD dog food in Hawaii on a regular basis...and the ones that are in stock all the time are either super costly or the dogs simply don't like them or they cause poop that smells unbelievably nasty.

So far, after a week, I'm loving raw and the dogs seem to love it to. But I'm still interested in reading and learning as much as I can. So thanks again for the info.

My boys have grilled chicken and rice or cooked mince and rice as well as their normal doggy mix but I got told not feed them raw meat by my bulldog's breeders because it makes them nasty? Is it ok every now and again?

Risky,

What you were told by your breeder is a myth, and old wives tail.

hi there. i normally sell pit bull pups for breeders in my circle. im more into training dogs but plan on breeding my own dogs and starting something up. i like the raw meat idea and feed a few of my dogs it. i have never been sure on just how much raw ground beef i should be feeding them and if i should feed with kibble and vitamins. would love it if some one with experience would walk me through it and told me the best way to feed raw meat.

There is no worry feeding raw chicken bones to a dog, its the cooked ones that are harmfull. I don't feed the BARF diet, I do the Prey Model Diet, even though the BARF diet is 100% better for your dog than a kibble (dog food), the prey model diet is based on what your dog would eat if it was wild like its ancestors.
Here is the web site I used to get started, it has loads of info and facts, tells you what you can and can't feed and what you should and shouldn't do. I read the entire site before I started that way I knew who, what, where, and when.

www.rawfed.com

I've been doing this now for 3-4 months, and I LOVE IT!! Here is a list of the things I give my dogs daily.
2 chicken leg quarters
2-3 oz of chicken gizzard/heart mix
2-3 oz of chicken livers
1 1000mg pill of fish oil (or you can give 1/2can of king mackrel a week)
~~AND THATS IT~~
I have 8 dogs, 1 inside, 2 are pups about 5 months old, and I go through 100lbs of chicken leg quarters a week and spend only $40 on all the food. It takes me about 2 hours to put together the weeks meals for each dog.
