I like his show. I've used some of his methods with success. I may not agree with everything he does, but he does put on a good show. And he speaks out against BSL, which automatically makes him alright in my book. Most celebrities wouldn't bother.

I like the show okay, but I always keep in mind that it is always about the ratings so there are things we do not see or stories we will never hear. I noticed the last time I was in PetCo he has a product line out.

Absolutey but I recommend reading his books because he tells alot of things about ow to train & work with your pup so you don't need to call him. You should not need him if you do your homework and get your puppy into a training class(positive) when it is young! But it is entertaining TV. My concern is that I see alot of people who do not really undestand the methods and are trying his techniques with no experience and I afraid someone is gonna get hurt, even though he shows a disclaimer"don't try this at home....."
I love him for having pits and showing how wonderfu they are.....

i agree, I dont agree with EVERYTHING he says, but a lot of the methods have worked really well for us too!

I have alot of respect for anyone that helps animals. Having said that, I think as long as you realize that not everything you see on TV is what it appears to be, you will be ok. He's a "last resort" type of trainer. BUT, I do not agree with alot of his advice with regard to the pit bull. He has all these dogs running around on his compound saying that they never fight. They are calm, submissive........I find that very hard to believe. I'm sure there are alot of things they don't show us on the show.

There was one show where a labrador ate the families chickens. Ceasar shows up, grabs a chicken, and sticks it right in the labrador's face. The lab starts shaking. Ceasar says: this is good, the dog is releasing all the nervous energy. Bull poop......that dog wanted to eat that chicken. I would of loved to see a follow up on that show a month later to see how many chickens were left.

I like his show. I also don't agree with everything he says, but a lot of it has worked well for me. His book, Being the Pack Leader is excellent. I would recommend it to anyone with dogs or kids!

The day he pokes a truly fight crazy gamebred APBT in the chest and tells it "Shhhh!" and that stops him from wanting to fight another APBT... I'll be impressed.

He's ok, I like his shows, but mostly, they are just entertainment. Anyone that has ever had to break up a fight between bullies, knows you don't pull them apart by their back legs, and I've never seen him with a break stick... anytime you have that many dogs together, especially multiple bully breeds, you definitely need a break stick.

I love his show. I have definitly learned a lot and like everyone else said, his techniques have worked for us. However, as I am staring to get into dog training and reading about all the different types of methods I can see how some work for some breed and others work for other breeds. I don't feel that one method will work for every dog. As we already know, every dog is differnt and learns differently. That is one thing that I love about dogs.

I know someone who has been to his training center and his dogs are never unsupervised.

As long as you keep in mind that it is a TV show, and they have to do a lot of editing and cutting stuff out to break it down to a 30 min. or one hour show. I like watching him, but don't agree 100% with everything he does. Just keep in mind that they have to edit a lot to get what they want into the alloted amount of time they have.

I still sometimes like to watch his show, but I lost a little respect for him, when he did an episode where he claimed the dog was acting up because he didn't have a real "puppyhood". I thought he is always claiming that dogs live in the now and that the past doesn't matter, and then suddenly the dog has problems because of his lack of puppyhood? What the Heck?

Exactly. I don't dislike Caesar but I've noticed he always has an excuse if his techniques aren't working. There was one episode where he was dealing with an aggressive rottweiler and every time the dog misbehaved despite the training he'd be like, "oh well they were bred to that" or "it's okay that's normal also". It's like no Caesar just admit the dog is freakin out of control and your training isn't working.

I've also read his books, and I found them to be pretty much useless. I know people rave about Being the Pack Leader, but the entire book was just a recap of his shows and stories about his success. I understand the "positive energy" spiel, but that s*** only goes so far. My seventy pound Cane Corso puppy only responds so much to the whole energy thing. I don't believe in animal abuse but some breeds of dog are tougher than others and need to have the crap yanked out of their chain before they listen. There were no step by step instructions on how to deal with things like dog aggression or leash pulling. I didn't find any practical training advice in them. You can find better info on the interent for free.

I'm not saying he's a bad trainer or he doesn't know what he's doing but he's not the Messiah of dog training like so many people think he is.

See, I like his books for that reason. Well, to be truthful, I've only read one. But I'd rather read a book of stories than a book about training. I've learned a little bit from books with regard to training dogs, but I learn a lot more hands-on. When I sit down to read a book, I want to read stories.

I used to watch him faithfully, not so much now. I find it entertaining but after you watch so many episodes they're pretty much the same. I honestly think there's a lot more useful information on this forum! The last one I saw was about a VERY HA pit bull, he had bit people and tried to attack every person he saw...but he liked other dogs, strange. I don't think telling millions of people it's ok to keep a dog like that, is a good idea.

Maybe that's why I didn't like his books, because I was under the impression it was going to be more practical, hands on kind off stuff so when I read it I was disappointed.
