loose it's screws and " Bite you kids " ( Or someone elts )

That's a good question. Others can correct me if I'm wrong, but here are the basics as I understand:

• "Pit Bulls" especially the true American Pit Bull Terrier are traditionally the most stable, non human aggressive, family friendly dogs in the world

• Small children should never be left alone with ANY dog, not even for 20 seconds

• What your friends are mainly reacting to is media hype, in many cases flat out lies and at best their constant failure to tell the whole story

• There are exceptions due to bad breeding, abuse, and general stupidity (such as allowing a small child around a breeding pair)

• It is not in the nature of your (hopefully spay/nuetered, well socialized) pit bull will not "turn on" people but DEFNITELY it is in it's nature to possibly be aggressive with other dogs and cats etc. so this is something you should be aware of and manage

Hope that helps

GO to the American Temperment Test Society's page and see the passing rates of dog. And see that those beloved "family pets" like Goldens, Cockers see their passing rates. You will be surprised. ANd them look at American Pit Bull Terriers and Am Staffs. How high they scored.

And yes Buddysmom pretty much covered it. Media hype and poorly bred animals.

Excellent post, Buddysmom!

Berno: also note that your Pit's brain will not 'grow', thus causing Pit to go crazy. This myth has been attributed to Rotts and Dobies as well, and is patently false for all three breeds.

Have you had any luck finding crates for your dogs?
