Default Soft Food

Does anyone here feed their dogs any type of soft food? I am thinking about doing a combination soft food and kibble a couple days of week for some variety in my dogs diet. Any suggestions would be wonderful? Right now I am feeding Nature's Variety Salmon and Brown Rice for kibble. I know that they make a soft food but the store that I buy it at does not sell it.

Thanks
Jenn

Hallo!
I'm not sure if you're familiar with the "sawdust"....here in PI, many pitbulleros feed their dogs with this. (including me)

What we call here as "Sawdust/Dog food" are the fine particles of beef or meat and bones made by sawing large meat or beef. We buy these at the supermarket's meat section. It looks like ground pork. And I add this to my pits' kibbles.

I don't really care for canned food, but have fed it a few times for a few different reasons. Although I've only tried two different types, the following has worked well for me so far mixed with a quality kibble:

Pheasant, Chicken Broth, Chicken Liver, Trout, Sweet Potatoes, Carrageenan, Guar Gum, Flaxseed, Potassium Chloride, Olve Oil, Salt, Apples, Minerals (Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Sodium Selenite, Potassium Iodide), Vitamins ( Vitamin E, A, D3, B12 Supplements, Thiamine Mononitrate, Niacin,d-Calcium Panotothenate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin Supplement, Folic Acid, Biotin), Choline Chloride, Cinnamon, Fennel, Rosemary, Basil, Cumin, Turmeric, Corriander, Currants, Dried Apricot, Dried Apple, Taurine.

Kettle Cooked Pheasant & Herbs, formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO.

Right now I am usiing Merrick Wilderness blend kibble, mixed with Merrick canned.
I have one dog that cannot have chicken or beef. If your dog enjoys chicken, I would try the wing-a-ling or smothered comfort. The wing-a-ling has whole chicken wings, the smothered comfort has whole thighs. My dogs that can have chicken go crazy over it.
I call it doggie crack in a can.

Thanks for the recomadation on this food. I bought some today and my dogs flipped out over it. I also bought some for my cat and he loved it also. I guess it is doggie crack in a can but rawhides will still be doggie crack for my dogs.

Unless, you have certain reasons/needs for feeding canned food, I would not recommend it as it is bad on the dogs teeth and doesn't promote cleansing them.....everyone knows that bad teeth on a dog could lead to possible death....JMO....I have to feed it before, but didn't like to, poop was NASTY and teeth started showing, even thought they were getting brushed....

Most dogs LOOOOOOVE Merrick canned!!!!

I dont do canned mostly for convience and recycling, also to keep their stools regular and not soft and then hard and back again..... I do feed Raw every sunday and that is when they get their supplements.

I have raised pitbulls for years and I always feed them a mix of soft and dry food, the only advice I can give is that you stay consistent with whayever you decide to feed them, mine have always been beautiful and healthy!

We have been feeding our puppy a mix of kibble and canned food, this is only because he recently became very uninterested in dry food after being fed chicken and rice after a recent stomach ailment, we haven't been able to get him back onto kibble only. But he really seems to enjoy it and we haven't noticed any differences in health (i.e. coat, eyes, nose etc.) - He is allergic to chicken however (breaks out in hives all over his back) so we only give him organic lamb based mixes.

I think that soft food is personal preference more of the human then dogs. my boy gobbles up his dry like its the best thing ever. I feed almost exclusivly dry just because i feel that wet food causes tooth damage (yeah i could brush his teeth but he would rather eat the tooth brush) HOWEVER I do keep can food on hand incase he gets a tummy ach or occasionaly I will change things up a bit for him. I dont think that there is anything wrong with feeding soft food but I dont feel its 100% needed in their diet just something we add to change up their food a bit
