Dude, if you don't know from the breeder what his lineage and papers are you do not know what you are getting. As per the Code of Ethics, you shouldn't even be thinking about breeding until the dog, if it was a purebred APBT, reached about 2 years old. You need to discover his temperment before you take any other steps...and without a pedigree the answer should be NO!

That being said, that boy is cute as a button. If he presses your button, you can buy what you want...but...$500.00 for a dog without real papers "from a friend of a friend" is $500.00 too much. He looks a bit "Bull Terrier" IMO...but it is a cute dog in any case. Don't take any advice on here the wrong way...just read up as much as you can.

If you are already thinking of making money off "your pup", you are working backwards.

If his Sire and Dam don't have AKC papers, then no, you can't AKC register him.
If they do, then yes, you can register him.

if the parents are papered they should give you some paper work so you can register him in your name. the mark should not be a problem, the only problem is that you seem to not like it. with breeding, you need to wait until 2 years of age, this will give you enough time to find out if he has any health problems. you DO NOT want to breed him if he has hearing problems, allergies and things like that. You want to BETTER the breed not worsen it. Also, temperament is genetic, you want to make sure he has the right personality to breed, you don't want to breed him if he has any signs of aggression. To be a responsible breeder then you need to take the right steps, health test for hearing, hips and joints, sight and other things should be conducted before breeding so that you can show the owner of a prospected mate that your male is the best for breeding. know what i mean?

Look at the AKC standard for bull terriers at www.akc.org and see what the disqualifications are in the show ring. If you even consider breeding, you need to make sure the dog is at least 2 years of age, has been certified free of hip/heart/eye/etc. issues and is titled in at least conformation. Then, you need to find the same qualifications in the mate. You can't just throw two dogs together because they are the same breed and AKC registered and breed them... it isn't right.
