Default London, England: Assembly member suggests adding breeds to ban

Posted on November 2, 2009 by stopbsl.com

London assembly member and deputy mayor for policing Kit Malthouse has written an editorial suggesting that the Dangerous Dog Act (which bans four types of dogs) has failed because not enough breeds/types of dogs are included.

He points to the “success” of Ontario’s breed ban (I am not sure where he got data that indicates Ontario’s ban has been successful, since everything I’ve seen has indicated the opposite) and believes that all “bull breeds” and their derivatives need to be included in the UK’s ban. He specifically names the Bull Terrier and Staffordshire Bull Terrier in his editorial. It’s not clear whether he realizes that “bull breed” derivatives also include breeds like the Boston Terrier, French Bulldog, and the Boxer.

Read the editorial and see what you think Kit Malthouse is suggesting. Full editorial is here:

This is how it goes. Ban one breed, and it opens up legislation to eventually ban all breeds.

Before I got kicked off of the old SBT forum that was British-based I told them and warned them this day was coming. They were real quick to bash the APBT and AST but even quicker to defend the SBT when the SBT was doing the same bad things that their American bretherin were doing. I told them that in the end the SBT will be banned as it's just another "pit bull"-in fact the first pit bull-and BSL will come to them also.

i have said for many years...the sbt will never become a banned breed,...the breed is a kennel club registered breed that generates huge money for the organisation due to its popularity...the only banned breeds here in england are 4 breeds of dog that the kennel club have never registered or even acknowledged as being breeds of dog !!....coincidence ?
not sure which forum you are referring to they sound like fools....but there was a few good ones
