Obama jokes about hockey moms, ''delicious'' pitbulls at White House Correspondents' Dinner

Washington -- Saturday night was the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Politicians, celebrities and media figures arrived early for the event. Among them, George Clooney, Lindsay Lohan, Kim Kardashian, Claire Danes and Sigourney Weaver.

The annual gala, also known as the "Nerd Prom," raises money for journalism scholarships.

There was lots of jokes -- mostly at the expense of the president and others in the room. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event.

One quip from the President himself is bound to raise some eyebrows amongst pundits and bloggers.

"Even Sarah Palin is getting back in the game, guest hosting on the Today Show," Obama began. "Which reminds me of an old saying... what's the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull? A pitbull is delicious."

The joke comes after some conservatives have recently attacked Obama because he admitted to eating dog meat as a child in his 1995 memoir, Dreams from My Father.

Obama has used the annual Correspondents Dinner in the past to poke fun at seemingly trivial political outrages. In 2011, he mocked Donald Trump (who was in attendance) over Trump's questioning of Obama's citizenship.

A joke was also made at the 2011 dinner over Osama bin Laden's whereabouts... one day before the al Qaeda leader was killed.
