6 dead pit bulls found in ditch in Crittenden Co.

Police say they're investigating a possible dog-fighting operation after six dead pit bulls were found in a ditch near Marion.
West Memphis Police Chief Donald Oakes told Memphis television station WMC that the animals had obvious injuries — including missing ears. He said it was clear the dogs had been used for fighting.
Police also found a cow's head dumped alongside the dead dogs.
Investigators believe the dogs had been dropped individually, rather than all at once. Oakes said police do not believe the dog-fighting happened in Marion or West Memphis, but instead in rural Crittenden County.
Police are asking anyone with information to step forward.
