How long after whelping...?
How long after whelping does a bitch go into heat?

4 to 6 months.

She was a VERY pregnant rescue, if I recall correctly. She shouldn't be going back into heat already. If you're looking for a good time to spay, when the pups are 8-10 weeks old is a good rule of thumb.

Her appointment to be spayed is in January, but she's been acting a bit more frisky and I was simply curious because I couldn't find a solid answer anywhere else. I attribute her behavior to having recently weaned and she's actually getting some nutrients for herself now.
I own an unaltered male, but I don't think I'll have to worry about her going into heat before being spayed. Thanks for the replies.

Most females will go 4 months after whelping, to still be 6 months after their heat. I do know some bully breed females that have gone into heat a mere 4 weeks after whelping, but they are rare cases.
