  1. stop dog jumping fence?

hi, i have a 6' privacy fence. my red nose likes to jump up to the top, but has not made it over....yet! my neighbor has a smaller dog and asked if my dog could jump over the fence...my response was...i dont think so.

i dont want him jumping anymore, also when the neighbors lawn guys are there he acts the same way. if he does get over i will probably be in serious trouble.

when i hear him bark i go to the back gl$#@! door and tap on the gl$#@!. he usually stops. sometimes i have to let him in, because if i walk away from the sliding gl$#@! door he will return the that behavior.

    thanks for your time...Loola

Sounds like you need a Chain Spot
If you can not do a chain spot maybe a electric fence about 2 feet before the privacy fence this may keep him away from the fence.
could try the underground fence as well that has the collar.
I prefer a pulsating Electric fence from the feed store that is for cattle not one from the pet store designed for dogs they never seem to last or work very well. and I have been zapped by the cattle one many times and it is not going to hurt the dog.

I've got a fence hopper and he is NEVER in the yard by himself unless he's on his tie up. Proper confinement is a MUST with this breed.

Keep him on a leash with you or on a tie out, if he jumps your fence and eats your neighbors dog you are 100% to blame and he may be PTS or labeled a dangerous dog. My male went over my fence one day after the neighbors mastiff, thankfully there was another fence inbetween them and I grabbed him first but he doesn't leave the house without a leash on ever. Soon as they learn they can do it they won't stop.

  5. Can you use plywood (or something else, maybe something less noticable) to extend the fence?

    1. Don't leave your dog unsupervised in the yard.

    2. Take him out on leash/long line to potty.

    3. Make a chain spot in the yard.

Get him a covered kennel or chain spot for when your not out their with him. You can't teach a 100% reliable stay in the yard when your not there. Its not safe.

I agree...If he is jumping now, he won't stop...Always be with him or put him on a tie out.

The solution to this is a chain set up to contain your dog in your yard.

Why would you be in serious trouble? Not saying that your dog would, but if you are implying here that the dog may react in a bad way to the lawn guys, a dog that bites can reach into the millions in a lawsuit if enough damage is done.
