  1. How much Ivomec should I give my dog?

Hello everyone I just got some Ivomec (Ivermectin) 1% injectable solution for my dogs d mange. I am trying to get the correct dosage for my dog. He is 80 lbs. I heard you can actually give it to dogs oral at a dose of Ivomec 1% 0.0027 cc or ml per every 10 pounds. Ia this correct? Can someone chime in on this please and give me advice. My vets out of town till Friday.

  2. i treated demodex dosing it at .3cc/ml per 10 pounds for a month and a week. for yours since its 80#'s youd give it 2.5cc's/ml's daily ORALLY. either work it into the dogs mouth or a better way is putting on the dogs food. dont inject it. it will leave a huge welt under the skin

you may also want to look into a product called taktic (for cattle and swine) also if your doing all this at home. its a dip for the dogs. all you do is draw out 10.6ml out of the syringe and drop it into (1)gallon of luke warm water. take a sponge and apply through out the dogs body avoiding the eyes, ears, anus, penis, vagina, mouth etc. any membranous areas avoid. apply all over let air dry(no towel) and repeat one more time. do this once a week till its gone along with the daily ivermetin 1%....... have fun demodex is a pain in the $#@!. done like this though it will be gone.

I do one tenth of a cc per ten pounds of dog. Eighty pound dog, eight tenths of a cc. I usually mix it with Dr Pepper or Big Red to make it go down a little easier.

Hey I forgot to ask, this is for a bulldog right? He's not part collie or anything? Ivomec isn't good for dogs that have collie in them.

This is the correct dosage for treating demodex in dogs. Given orally daily for a month. I would mix it with orange juice to kill the flavor some. The dr pepper is an ok idea too that's suggested below.

I personally don't like the dips. The ivermectin should take care of it by itself. Just my opinion.

Please be careful when dosing your dog without direct supervision of a vet. Ivermectin overdose can kill a dog. Where's Cynthia when you need her?!

I know thats what I'm afraid of. I'm calling the vet on Friday. But for the mean time I'm going to give 1 tenth of a cc per 10 lbs. I think .3 cc per 10 lbs is a bit to much. I have read allot of post from different people saying to use one tenth cc per 10 lbs.

LOL if you have no idea wtf the dog is supposed to get then how can you form an opinion that it's too much? CLASSIC!!! How bout think about if you're under dosing that it's not going to be effective and you've given it now for a month with no results. Then you'll bitch that ivermectin didn't work to treat the problem. Some people make me wanna bang my head against the wall.

I think that's the best bet. I'm trying to remember, did you take him to the vet for a skin scrape to confirm Demodex? I would not just treat him without confirming that he IS having a flare up of Demodex.

  16. the purpose of treating is to treat it. dont under treat it will do nothing. go to the vet if you feel unsafe, but why ask? if you dont have experience of believe in your handling of the dog medically go to the vet, but dont under treat because youd be way off with only 8/10 of a cc. just go to the vet then because you will have ZERO results from dosing it at 1/10 per 10 pounds. thats just way low of the effective rate to treat demodex.

  17. ok guys so I found this website that says to dose "The correct dosage for dogs is 0.0015 mg to 0.003 mg per pound of body weight. You've already been given the proper dosage but you've decided without knowing jack that it's too much. You listen to others who "think that sounds like a lot". Now to go further confuse yourself you're looking up dosage for heartworm preventative NOT treating demodex. How bout just go do whatever a vet tells you and be done with it. You could have already had 5 days of treatment done. :(
