It was a very touching documentary of street level dogfighting, but I didn't appreciate the overall outlook it presented regarding the breed.
Everyone is going to have a different opinion on fighting dogs, most of them being extremes, I can't think of anyone who is on the fence about the subject, but if you're going to make a documentary about dogfighting, at least attempt to get the details and breed traits accurate.
What bothers me most with things like this is the false information it feeds to the public and to potential pit bull owners.
For instance, the animal control officer who repeatedly claims that dogs are "trained" to fight or "forced" to fight and are fed everything from raw meat (which is extremely healthy and in no way makes the dog mean) to gun powder to create a vicious personality ..... anyone who's ever owned a TRUE game bred pit bull knows there is no training or even encouraging needed for a bulldog to want to fight another dog.
They're ANIMAL AGGRESSIVE. It's the breed. Period. It's genetic. It's like someone going out and buying an Australian Cattle Dog or Border Collie and expecting it not to herd, or someone bringing home a terrier of any sort and expecting it not to dig - it's not a personality trait and it isn't something that they pick up, it's genetic and CANNOT be changed.
No one should go watch this DVD and think "well, as long as I don't TRAIN my pit bull to fight, it should get along with other dogs just fine."
And at the end it had apbt owners thinking they are doing a favor taking their dogs to the dog park thinking only trained dogs attack other animals..
idk.. am i the only one that really didnt like this documentary?
Personally they took a looking inside the street thug fight not any professional fighters
While it's not pretty nor 100% accurate it is one to watch. It certainly is more of the lower level fighting when compared to the doc. done by the BBC. I agree with Jelet...
It's obviously how you raise them, I've had friends that owned dogs from fighting stock. They raised them responsibly and socialized them at an early age and they have never had a single problem. force a human to fight for his life and then see if he turns out nice. it is %100 how you raise them. of sourse there are exceptions. but the majority of dogs are only as good as there owners!!!
i f you love animals don't watch this video. Watching someone step on a dogs neck trying to crush it while it's tail is wagging is way beyond my threshold. Then those tools talk about how they love the dogs and the breed. I am not a squemish person but that video is brutal and sadistic. I know this really happens and I knew what happened before this video, but that doesn't mean I wanna watch this sick excuse for a documentary.
