Shortly after our dog had TPLO surgery on his right ACL, we were looking for a harness that we could use that would serve a dual purpose of functioning as a secure fitting walking harness as well as being able to make it easier to provide mobility assistance as necessary during the recovery process (ie. going up/down stairs, etc.).

Although, it may seem a bit pricey for a walking harness, this has proven to be well worth the money. The harness adjusts at numerous positions for a custom, secure fit, is well padded for comfort and has held up extremely well. Although we have not attempted to lift our dog soley by the handle on the harness (as the mfg says you can do), it has been very helpful in allowing us to provide gentle and effective support to him during the early stages of his TPLO recovery.

This harness is widely available from numerous retailers and etailers so a quick internet search will give you plenty of options.

If you're dealing with a recovering or senior dog that requires mobility assistance, you may want to check this out.

Default Re: Ruffwear Web Master Harness

I purchased this harness after learning that my dog had an infection in her heart that was affecting her joints. She needed help up and down stairs as well as in and out of vehicles. This is an excellent harness for that as well as walking. It really spreads out the force from the dog pulling and puts very little stress on the dog. Now that my dog is better I still use the harness and it is a must have for hikes to assist her over large downed tree's or anything blocking the trail.
