I am fostering a very affectionate Bully mix girl for the Wayne County Animal Adoption and Education Center, who is laid back and relaxed. I just brought her home today, so I will be testing out all her buttons this week. But so far she has been great!! She needed some encouragement to jump in the car but, went up on her own with a few "good girls." and she road well in the car. When we arrived home she was uninterested in my 2 dogs (1 is an old guy that is relaxed and the other is rambunctious 1 yr old pit, who is still over-exuberant in his greetings). She is now quietly relaxing in her kennel, getting used to being in a home with other dogs and having some R&R after being at the shelter for almost 3 weeks. So far she hasn't had any accidents in the house, stays close by me, comes when called and already walks great on leash. She is already learning to sit and wait while you open her kennel and to go outside. Transport can be arranged for adopters that are in Goldsboro, NC.
If you adopt her you will not only save her life, but you will also allow me to pull another dog from the shelter to foster. The adoption fee is $50 and when you have her spayed they will refund you back $40!!! The Wayne County Adoption and Education Center's adoption contract requires that all dogs adopted from the shelter be spayed/neutered.
She has a new name "Delilah" and has shown herself to be an excellent dog! She is completely house broken and has excellent manners. She is also picking up on the "house" rules very fast: no dogs in the kitchen, sit when we go out and come in the house (sometimes she forgets this one), and wipe your paws after being outside. She has been out for walks and to shops around town, and has had excellent manners everywhere we have gone so far. She also seems to favor small dogs we have met the last few days, but greets all dogs nicely, even the GIANT Polish Tatra, which was the size of a large pony!!! She is also very patient with boisterous dogs, my year old pit climbs all over her and jumps around trying to get her to play, but she just wags her tail and waits calmly for me to call him off. She is still a little unsure about getting in the car, but with a cookie and some positive encouragement she will climb in on her own.
I also wanted to add that transport for her can be arranged for her anywhere with great references and a home visit.
So far I have not had very good luck in find Dehlila a great home... She is a wonderful ready made friend for your home, she is great with kids and other dogs, she is even getting used to the boisterous youngster and is "thinking" about playing. I think she would also be a great therapy dog, she is so gentle when she jumps on you that you can barely feel her touch you and she is very eager to please, another plus is that she makes the most adorable smiley faces....
