Duke is my absolutely gorgeous pitbull that my landlady won't let me keep because he's too large for the tiny apartment I live in. I've had him since he was 2 months old and he's been the most lovable dog towards me. He's neutered, up to date with all this shots, house trained, and walks great on a leash. I can't keep him and that breaks my heart. I'm looking for a good loving family for Duke, I'm afraid of sending him to the humane society or putting him up on craigslist...sadly if I don't find a good home for him soon I won't have a choice.

Please be very careful about who comes to see Duke. I recenly heard of a scam whereby a man (or men) use a woman and kids to help portray a happy family in order to get a pit bull, supposedly as their "family dog", but in reality, the intent is to turn it into a fighter...what a horrible life for a dog. I would definitely check references and go see their home, if possible.

Hey there. Not sure if you've found a home for duke. Where are you located? I am in Enterprise, AL, and willing to drive if Duke is the right dog for our family. I currently own a rescue pit/dobie mix male. He is super energetic, totally submissive to all dogs, and needs a play buddy. We just can't play with him enough. Very active family. Have a 7 year old that has learned with our current dog how to be firm and follow through with commands. Both my husband and I have rescued several pits, and sort of grown up with them, or some kind of dog. Interested in Duke, and would like to hear some more from you if you are still looking for a home for him. Thank you

I know it must tear you up inside to have to give up a loved member of your family. I saw on that one picture that it says, "Today Forever". I couldn't give up any furry member of my family. Is there any way that you can find another place to live?

How old is Duke? What does he do when around cats? Where are you? Does he have any other issues?

You can look for places which are no kill if you have no other choice. Do you have friends or someone willing to foster him until he finds a new home. There are pit rescues which may be able to help you and Duke.

The size of your apartment isn't as much of an issue if you can walk him each day for a minimum of 45 minutes twice daily would be much better. A treadmill is a very good tool to help when weather is a problem or when you absolutely can not walk him because of your schedule. Day care is an option as well as different activities.

Agility, fly ball, dock diving, and other organized activities will help you keep Duke mentally and physically active which reduces hiper energy and mental frustration.

Please let me know if how I may help you either keep Duke or find a very good home for him.

He sounds like he is worth his weight in glod and worth trying to keep with you.
