ID#81258 Intake date: 6/17/08 "Cole"

-See attached images for pictures of him-

Cole is a four-five year old male Bulldog mix that was found and brought to the Humane Society of Elmore County in Alabama by an animal loving couple horrified at what they had found.

Cole is an extreme example of how bad an embedded collar can be. This very sweet dog wagged his tail the entire time as a nylon collar was cut out of his neck. When he was later sedated so the wound could be cleaned more thoroughly by a veterinarian, we could see that this collar had cut completely down to his jugular vein! We held our breath for a few days to make sure he would make it, and this tough guy rallied and has healed wonderfully. Besides the terrible neck wound, Cole also bears other scars showing a previous lifetime of pain and misery!

Cole is one of those happy boys whose entire body wiggles and who will beat you silly with his tail. This short guy is as solid as he can be and needs a home that is up for his energy and strength. Cole absolutely loves all people, but plays rough and doesn't know his own strength so he would be best in a home without small children whom he might hurt accidentally. He can be aggressive with other male dogs, so while he would do best in a home where he was the only dog, he could also tolerate a female of about his size. Cole also really wants to go after cats, so no kitties either. It is very likely that Cole was a hog catch dog in the past, so if you have pigs as pets he would not be a good boy to have.

We know that there is a perfect home out there for Cole, and he has been waiting patiently for over a year for that special person to come and adopt him! We will require a home check and a good fence, as well as a vet record of any past and/or current pets you've owned before adoption. We will also be looking for knowledgeable owners, so if you have a lot of experience with owning this type of dog, it will be a big plus!

As for medical information; Cole has been neutered, is heartworm negative, has been microchipped, and is up-to-date on all immunizations, dewormings, and heartworm preventions. The adoption fee for him is $100.
