Zeus - A Casualty of War Looking to Love and be Loved
Name
Zeus
Sex
Male
Color
Brindle with White
Age
Adult (2-8 Years)
Meet Zeus, a very special dog whose owner had to give him up after getting deployed to Iraq. At 4 years of age, Zeus knew nothing of the stressful life in a town shelter.
He has had a very hard time adjusting. But with reassurance and alot of TLC, Zeus is now ready for a new beginning. Although unhappy in his cage, once out he wants nothing more than to be held in your arms while staring lovingly into your eyes. His "volunteer mommies" love him so much they wish they could adopt him themselves!
His beautiful soul is hard to ignore- sensitive, innocent, smart and loving, Zeus is all those things and more. A true gentleman, Zeus greets other dogs with a bow and listens attentively to all his commands. He never jumps up or plays rough although he would probably do best in a cat-free home with older children. He does seem to like other dogs, however! He would also be just as happy being an only-pup, accompanying you for a jog or helping out in the garden. He is a great companion to have by your side.
Perhaps the one thing holding him back is those unlucky words: Pit Bull. But take it from Zeus himself, "There's nothing more American than me, an American Pit Bull-mix!"
He adds, "I have already been serving my time here for 7 long months. That's alot in dog years! Please be my Hero and rescue me before my tour of duty is up! I promise you won't remember what life was like without me."
Look into those amber eyes, open your mind and open your heart. Let love speak.
Contact us to meet this special little soldier. Bring a canine companion or just come watch him play in the kiddie pool- he's a real waterbug too!
Zeus resides at the Town of Huntington Animal Shelter (East Northport, NY) and can be reached via the League for Animal Protection of Huntington, Inc. - LAPVolunteers@gmail.com or call (631) 757-9373 and ask for Cheryl.
Please note: the adoption fee includes neuter, rabies shot and NY state license.
Re: Zeus - A Casualty of War Looking to Love and be Loved
Thank you, Kaitlyn, Michele and Royal Rex, for your good wishes for our boy, Zeus.
The bio was written by a fellow volunteer who unfortunately doesn't have access to the Internet at this time. We both are very taken by Zeus but neither of us can take him (we both have cats and he doesn't seem to be good with cats).
Zeus has this bark that scares inexperienced people away. We know all he wants is to get each passerby's attention. It's not a mean bark at all. He's a big love bug! Jess (the other volunteer) and I have been working to teach him to sit quietly at his gate when people stop to look at him. He's smart and he's learning it. It's just that he's so eager to get out of the kennel and be with people.
I know he'll find his loving forever home. We just hope it's soon. He deserves to be in a home with someone (or a family) to love him ... lots of walks, watching tv with his family, doing all the wonderful things dogs do.
Thanks again for posting. It means a lot to us and hopefully someone here will either want to meet Zeus or know someone who does.
