Tupper - A big loveable goof

    Name
    Tupper
    Sex
    Male
    Color
    Black and White
    Age
    Young (1-2 Years)
    Weight
    65
Tupper has a very sad story. He was a young puppy in animal control and was lucky enough to get picked up by a no-kill shelter where he spent the next 2 years of his life. This poor guy never had a home until recently. He's now in foster care and doing very well.

He will walk on his leash without pulling, is house trained, crate trained and knows a lot of commands. He's a medium energy dog- he'll play for a while, but after a bit, he'll usually just pick up a toy, lay down and chew on it. He would really like a home where someone can jog with him. He is great about keeping pace with you while running and it makes him very happy. When he's tired, he loves to cuddle up with his head in your lap (sometimes he'll try to totally climb in your lap- he doesn't realize he's a big boy) and really just loves getting attention.

Tupper is living with another male pit bull mix and does very well with him. They love to wrestle or play tug of war with a rope toy. He also has a good friend who is a Boston Terrier puppy and he is -extremely- tolerant of him. Tupper will let the puppy climb all over him and he loves to play with him.

Tupper is scared of dogs he doesn't know and will sometimes react while on walks. Generally, if the other dog is quiet and doesn't bark, Tupper will be fine, but if the dog starts barking, Tupper will react. He's never attacked any dogs he's met, but you can see he's uncomfortable and he seems to make other dogs uncomfortable as well. If he's introduced slowly, he should be fine, but he needs someone who understands how to manage this. He is working on the 'look' command and a lot of times, you can get his attention and keep it as a dog passes by, but he still needs work on this.

Tupper really deserves a great home. He is such a big mush and really wants nothing more that to cuddle up on the couch with you and get his big head scratched. Tupper is from Baypath Humane Society- Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton - Animal Shelter of Massachusetts for Dogs and Cats - Home

    Hi Everyone,

Tupper went to the shelter for the weekend because I was out of town and when I went to pick him up, my dog kept trying to attack him. My dog has never had any issues with another dog (in fact, I took him for a walk later that evening and he was fine with two other dogs he knows). This has put Tupper in a difficult situation since he is now back at the shelter, being miserable, and it's of no fault of his.

I've done a ton of work with him and he's made tremendous strides. He still has a few issues to work on, but he's really a terrific dog. He's been in a shelter for a long time and it's going to take a while to undo what he's been through.

If anyone can even foster him at this point, it would be much appreciated. It breaks my heart but I can't risk having Odin become dog aggressive or being stressed out when he's making it clear that he doesn't want Tupper around.

Please contact me or call Baypath Humane directly - 508 435 6938.
