Name: Esperanza (Ezzy)
Sex: Female
Color: Fawn
Age: Young (1-2 Years)
Weight: 48 lbs
Ezzy is a very sweet, very smart, very trainable girl. She was adopted from the SPCA in January of 2009. She's been in her current home since, and has lived with cats, older children, and another dog. Ezzy gets along well with all people and loves to play with other dogs, but she does get a bit jealous and would love to be the only dog if possible, because what she wants more than anything is your undivided love and attention, and she'll do anything for you if it makes you happy. Prior experience as a dog owner required, prior experience with bullies recommended. She's learned all of her training incredibly fast and has begun off-leash work with the Dogtra e-collar (used for agility and hunting dogs). She just needs someone who can give her the time and love she needs to be the best Ezzy she can be. She is sure to return the devotion you give her.

Ezzy has a high prey drive, primarily for squirrels, and is interested in cats initially, but has cohabitated peacefully with them and will ignore them if asked.

She is estimated to be about 13 months old, is fully vaccinated, spayed and is currently on flea and tick prevention and heartworm preventative.

aren't you supposed to return her to the SPCA? Isn't it part of the contract?

Hey all-

She is a very cute pup indeed. @ilovetyson she's not my pooch, I know for some SPCA's that is true of the contract, though. Part of the problem is that here in Philly, the SPCA is overrun with pits and many of them end up in the wrong hands or in and out of shelters. Add to that the waitlist to get into a no-kill shelter, or the fact that some SPCA's won't adopt out pits. I think the owners just want to give Ezzy a better shot than waiting in a shelter again for a home, hence searching through a pit-specific network. It'd break this girl's heart to sit in a cage again when she had a family for a year. Wrong or right, I think they are kind of just trying to do the best thing by their dog. If they don't find a more suitable home for her they are willing to work with her and make it work, they don't want to toss her back into the system. And from personal experience, I went by that contract and returned an airedale/pit mix juvenile after trying to work with her for several months and finding that we'd both be happier if she was in a different home. I called to follow up on her and make sure she was doing well, only a week or two later, and they couldn't find her in their system. That just didn't seem right to me.

Good day ,My name is Jim D. My family and I live in Saskatchewan Canada. We were thinking of buying a well bred APBT from a breeder and that is why we were surfing this website. From what i see in this post,,we found one.We (my wife and our children, agess 10 thrue 17 live on a 4 acre hobby farm in the country. We have owened 1 APBT, that we had to put down because of BSL in ontario canada, because I let her dog tag expire,,the township MADOC Ontario,we went to two town meetings to appeal there decision and the fistful of tickets, totaling several hundreds of dollars.all to no aval.they would not budge,so I tried to find a decent home for her,and had no luck,We had to put her down, ofcourse we did not tell our kids,,but ,we packed up 2 yrs later and moved away to the country as soon as we could afford it.PLEASE consider us in your attempt to find her a home,,i give you my word,,she will have a great home in the house, lots of room to run outdoors, under supervision ofcourse and all the attention she can handle.
Please call us if you will consider us 306-287-4111

Hi Jim-

I actually just sent you a PM bc I hadn't seen your post.

Unfortunately, the current owners would like to find a closer home for Ezzy. I'm sorry for your loss and hopefully your country will come around on the BSL issue.

Best of luck in your search and I know you'll take great care of your new pooch.
