Five years in a rescue, Purdy needs a home before its too late! (Central Iowa)

    Name
    Purdy
    Sex
    Female
    Color
    Brindle
    Age
    Adult (2-8 Years)
    Weight
    60lbs
After five years of failed attempts the rescue that has Purdy, the brindle apbt/boxer mix is loosing hope.

I met Purdy when I adopted another apbt/boxer mix from the rescue. I found out today that she is facing euthanasia as she has issues with children that have not been over come. She is wonderful with other dogs and people, and was actually my dogs best playmate at the rescue.

Purdy is 6 or 7 years, and has spent the majority of her life at the rescue. But time is running out as the rescue operator is loosing hope that Purdy will ever find a home. She's a good dog and it breaks our heats that she may face euthanasia because she can't be placed in a home with children.

Purdy is located in Central Iowa.

Please, if you have a big heart and no children give her a chance to shine and be the great dog she was meant to!

After five years in a "rescue" (?), I imagine Purdy has other issues as well.

    Sheesh.

    Why?

i'm sorry. but as the saying goes in the shelter/rescue world. YOU CAN'T SAVE THEM ALL. YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO SAVE EVERY DOG!!! and what issues is she having with children? if she is HA/child aggressive, then maybe its best that she is euthanized. :'( PLEASE HAVE HER EUTHANIZED!! :'(

Going with the crowd here. I wouldn't take a dog that has issues with children even if I didn't have any kids. People don't live in a bubble and most dogs will at least come into contact with kids occasionally. Friends kids, family member kids, kids at the park etc etc. heck, kids even come into vet offices while dogs wait in the waiting room for their turn to see the doc!

That dog should have been euthanized years ago to make room in the rescue for stable dogs to be saved from euthanasia.

How many dogs could have been saved by this rescue and gotten adopted into homes in the time this dangerous dog has been taking up space???

agrees with MJJean. there is NO way i will adopt a dog that hates kids/babies. EVEN if I wasn't pregnant, i still will NOT adopt a dog that HATES kids, ever!!!

I doubt the OP even has a say in the future of this dog but I really wish the rescue would let the poor thing go to the bridge

I wonder, when calculated out, how many hours of this dog's life were spent in a crate?

i know, i wish they would too i hate the bleeding heart rescues/shelters and their "SAVE THEM ALL, esp the unstable dogs" BS, that most of them have :'(

I'd take her if I could.
    I hate kids too.
Just another reason to stay FAR away from them.

It is most likely she with be euthed, and in this situation it is probably for the best.

those situations (dogs that don't like kids) are OK when the dog lives with it's original family... but what is the point in taking that much needed space and those much needed resources from shelter/rescue dogs into trying to adopt such dogs?

    that is sad...
hopefully there is a home for the dog somewhere.
