First of all, since Gypsy and I have started regular walking every day, 4 miles round trip, she has lost 3 pounds. (I've lost like 5 roflmao ). Yesterday, right before our walk, I gave her a bath, cleaned her ears, did her nails...she got a full spa workover! On our walk, a couple people at a gas station, a worker at a drive through restaurant window, and many people driving down the street, had to tell me what a beautiful dog she was. She even had one person stop their car to tell me how gorgeous she was....then to ask me if she was a Boxer lol (But hey, they still thought she was beautiful!)

I think it made her feel good, she was struttin' it up pretty good by the time we got through town. I'm just happy she is starting to get her girlish figure back :)

Another thing you should all know, and I was apparently informed this by an expert---

Marsha is a PUREBRED JACK RUSSEL TERRIER.
What do you think of that?!

Hi everyone its been a while since I've posted on the forums but what I seen at the park sort of threw me off a little. My Blue AmBully Nicky who is now 4 month old and 32 healthy lbs with a white paw she is not a lol was taken to the park on leash last week for a nice walk. I had notice this little boy about 9 or 10 years old was walking a white and brown Pitty little smaller than my pup maybe that puppy was about 3 month old I'm not sure, any how as I walk past him holding tight no my leash his dog was so aggressive towards my pup I was shocked. That pup he had seem like he wanted to killed the ducks and any other dog insight.
Now Nicky did not want any part of that pup she just kinda keep her distance and looked bewildered lol. As far as I know right now Nicky is not DA she pays no attention to other dogs. Is that normal for some pits to be that aggressive at such a young age, the pup seem like he straight up wanted to fight for no reason. I kinda said to myself wow that dog is going to be a hand full when he get older/bigger. Yea Nicky might be DA as she getting older but right now she loves people even strangers, once the tale starts to wag its pretty deadly.

So I went out for a while tonight, was gone from about 7pm-2am, come in and Coco has crapped in the crate...half solid, the other half diarrhea out of the crate, runny and looks like blood may be in it. Shouldn't be worms b/c she is on Intercepter meds that has a dewormer in it, she also on comfortis and had both of those on the March 6th. She's on TOTW, been on it for awhile, and as far as I know she hasn't had anything different to eat today. Only thing I know is that I gave her 3 cups of food instead of 2, but her feeding was this morning around 11am. I seem to have to go through something similiar like this every other month with her....Any ideas (besides take her to the vet which I will do Fri...)

She is petite, about 45 lbs., and true to the bread, she is a tremendous athlete. Because she is so friendly with not only people but dogs as well and has boundless energy I think she is well suited for agility competition. The actor delivered a magniloquent monologue, peppered with metaphors and obscure words.

Did you know?
"Magnus" means "great" in Latin; "loqui" is a Latin verb meaning "to speak." Combine the two and you get "magniloquus," the Latin predecessor of "magniloquent." English speakers started using "magniloquent" in the 1600s -- even though we’d had its synonym "grandiloquent" since the 1500s. ("Grandiloquent" comes from Latin "grandiloquus," which combines "loqui" and "grandis," another word for "great" in Latin.) Today, these synonyms continue to exist side by side and to be used interchangeably, though "grandiloquent" is the more common of the two.

My best friend brought his pup over for us to see. It's, get this, a pitbull mixed with...PUG!!! EEEWWWWW  anyways, the thing was pint size. And he was around 4 months old. So Kapone being 9 months and huge, I figure he'd put the pup in it's place. No sirryyy, that little demon dog kept yapping and snaping at Kapone and I think my dog thought he was playing because the little thing would bite him in the face, Kapone would slap it, back up, then go back for more abuse. His tail was going a mile a minute, he was indeed having the time of his life with a dog that hated him. Lol. And the little mutt kept trying to jump on the couch and get the hell away from my big boy,of course couldn't get up there and Kapone would run up and knock him down, then run in circles barking. It was entertaining. I was amazed Kapone didn't get the hint, um, sweetie, he doesn't like you. :D:D Those little dogs are tough and mean!! Lol

I have had my schnoodle for 8 years and he has been free fed the whole time. He is not overweight and picks at the food all day. I have been getting canidae ALS so I can feed it to my puppy pit (4 months) and my senior schnoodle. Is it ok to free feed pit bulls? I don't want her to be obese but I also don't want them to waste the food. I have been putting it down mixing it with wet and picking it up if its not eaten after 30 min. I then have to pitch it cuz its soggy. Should I free feed so I don't waste food or should I just suck it up and let it go to waste?

I don't know if its bad to do or not. I have a 4 month old female pit mix. My mom keeps telling me if I let her on the couch she may growl at me one day when I sit on the couch like she owns it. I don't want to cause trouble for my kids when they go to sit down.

I was trying for a while to not let her on the couch but it seems like it was a bigger battle then its worth because everyone was yelling at her all day and pushing or pulling her off the couch by her coller and then she would jump right back up. What should I do?

Drakes last two stools have been dark green and smelled pretty foul. We haven't changed foods or intoduced anything new. Well I did give him a couple pieces of carrotts last night. Also this morning he pooped more the normal; four times in about 2 hours. and they were pretty substantial each time. But then was his happy energetic self all day.

He pooped after his evening feed and again at about 10pm. And both times the poop was dark with a green tint. I feed him Innova puppy large breed. I just started feeding him twice a day down from three last week and I give him 1 1/2 cups per feed. He doest get a lot of extra "treats" either.

He does however put practically everything in his mouth. He seems to enjoy eating grass, dirt, mulch and even rocks. In the first green stool I actually saw some gravel! When he goes outside I think he's just sniffing until he picks up his head and starts chewing. Sometimes I can't get it before he swallows. :(

What could be causing this? Does this warrent an urgent trip to the vet? Am I feeding him too much?

We're grateful to everyone who's expressed their concern about the 23 dogs that were rescued from squalid conditions in an Oakland home on Tuesday. We know the perpetrator all too well ... This 'prolific' backyard breeder - who stuffed crates-full of young dogs into a crowded out building - has been vexing our fair town and filling our shelter's kennels with homeless pit bulls for many years. We all look forward to watching the legal process unfold.

Fear not. The dogs are safe and will be evaluated and offered placements as appropriate.

It's too early to think of setting them up with homes, but stay tuned. Maybe this is the spring that you decide to take the plunge and foster a needy pit bull? Wouldn't that be fantastic.

retrofit time

In other news, tomorrow the work crews show up to pour the big bad ass earthquake retrofit footings for the barn. Woot!

Did we ever tell you that we're near the big bad ass Hayward fault line that runs underneath the east bay? Yeah, that one.

We lucked out when a staffy bull owning civil engineer with a heart of gold offered her time gratis to help us figure out how to retrofit the barn, among other tricky brain-teasers. Kelton Finney has been a lifesaver and has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make sure the dogs stay safe during a big shaker. (If you know her, please - buy that woman a beer for helping the dogs!)

I just adopted the sweetest girl a couple of weeks ago from the shelter. She is very unlike Cruz the bull head. She didnt seem to know what sit...

I just adopted the sweetest girl a couple of weeks ago from the shelter. She is very unlike Cruz the bull head. She didnt seem to know what sit meant when I first got her, but can sit now (sometimes stubborn when I take her for walks) lay down on command, go get anything I point at and direct her to get, comes every time I call her name, even when she is sleeping if I ask her to move, she gets up and moves. Also if she is in mid roughhousing with Cruz, i can call her name and she immediately stops and comes to me. If I ask her "off" anything, she always complies. She is a complete wiggle butt... you say her name, her tail is wagging, you feed her, her tail is wagging, just walk past her and her butt wiggles. She is so easy to please, such an angel (so far!)

There are only a few concerns I have about her.
1. She likes to jump up and hug/hold you
2. She barks at a lot of noises
3. She has no leash training but we have a plan that is working
She also has a fetish with licking Cruzs veiner schnitzel but we redirect her every time. And yes both are spayed/neutered but she was just spayed.

Ok on to jumping. What I am talking about is not a serial jumper who is obnoxious. Basically when I get home from work she greets me really nice, but if I dont get down to her level soon enough, she will reach up to me to give me love. Like she is just standing up and putting her paws on my shoulders... not jumping. I tell her off and push her paws off me and she complies. She also will do the same thing to me when I am sitting. She seriously just wants to hug me. She wraps her arms around me and buries her face in my lap. Im going to admit I want to keep letting her hug me while Im sitting. So today I decided when she did it without an invite (as usual) I asked her off, which she happily complied, but then I asked her back up again on my terms. SHOULD THE COMMAND BE "GIVE ME A HUG"? OR CAN I START WITH "UP" UNTIL SHE LEARNS SHE NEEDS AN INVITE UP? She knew what I was saying when I said up today. I just dont want to stop the hugs, I just want her to learn that she needs an invite and it isnt ok to hug strangers!

As for jumping when Im standing, I dont like that as much. She only does it once or twice a day. I know all the tricks that could possibly used for jumping but have only told her off and push her away, then ask for a sit, then get down to her level to pet her up. I havent used any corrections/punishment for jumping, as I dont really see it as fit yet with a new dog who doesnt trust me 100% yet.

Does it sound like Im on track? Any other input? Just please remember she was just adopted from the shelter less than 2 weeks ago and is 20 months old. I dont want to be too harsh to her yet. I have had to correct her and she seems pretty sensitive, so I want to try to keep everything about positive reinforcement without using tons of treats. I use affection with her for the most part, as that is her favorite thing in the world.
